Nepal Telecommunication Authority, NTA the governing body for telecommunication in Nepal have begun a work to provide the Wi-Fi to the religious and tourism places of Nepal.
NTA a week ago on 28-October have invited the bid for the installation and commissioning of the services. According to the NTA bid, the shortlisted candidate must complete the work within 6 months after the contract.
The bid open date is set for 5 November. After this, NTA will continually do the agreement with the awarded firm for this task.
The Wi-Fi provided in the religious and tourism places will be connected by the optical fiber. So this aims for the high speed connectivity and larger coverage.
NTA have planned this project to provide the basic telecommunication services in the religious and tourism places ahead in the approach of the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign. As the tourism flow will get rampant in the coming year, this project will play an essential role in the communication. Indeed, this project will take at least 6 months of 2020 i.e by June 2020 the project might be completed.
As which religious and tourism places the the NTA officials are targeting is still disclosed but likely this project will get focused where there is high flow of the people. Places like Pashupatinath, Swaymbunath, Durbar Square, Mustang Muktinath, Annapurna Base Camp(ABC), Tilicho lake, Shey Foksundo lake and many more.
In remote areas, there is poor connectivity with the internet. Even many places of Himalayas where there is high flow of tourism are still lacking the good internet. The lodges or house owners even charge more for the services. After this project, lets hope such things will be cut off.
